EBay Inc. has added Moneybookers USA Inc. as a payment option for its auction Web site.
Moneybookers USA, a New York unit of Moneybookers Ltd. of London, allows merchants to accept payments in various currencies. Though eBay promotes the payment service offered through its PayPal Inc. unit, the San Jose company also permits a range of other payment systems to be used for sales on its site.
"This is a significant step in the continued success of Moneybookers," Markus Kroeger, Moneybookers USA's managing director, said in a press release Thursday.
