NationsBank getting American Management's collection aid.

A behavior scoring system from American Management Systems will be installed at NationsBank Corp. to help measure the effectiveness of collection strategies.

The system, called Strata, classifies customers accounts. Those with scores indicating a propensity for becoming seriously delinquent may receive special management attention, such as mandatory security deposits, issuance of reminder letters, or collection calls. Likewise, accounts with a record of consistent payment will not be sent notices for occasional late payments. The program can also be used to target solicitation mailings and making decisions to offer new product features or services using the combined value of a customer's accounts.

Bank of America currently uses the Strata system for collectionbased behavior scoring and decision support.

American Management Systems Inc. is headquartered in Fairfax, Va.
