Mr. Jacobs is the managing director and head of U.S. retail sales for Allianz Global Investors.

The trade group announced his election last week but said he began his term last month at its annual meeting in Boston.

Mr. Jacobs was named the chairman-elect in October, when the group announced its merger with the Forum for Investor Advice. He succeeded Kevin Hunt, the executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer for Old Mutual U.S. Holdings Inc., who completed his one-year term.

Christopher L. Davis will remain the Money Management Institute's president. The group also announced that Chuck Widger, the chairman and chief executive of Brinker Capital Inc., was named the chairman-elect and will succeed Mr. Jacobs next year at the group's annual meeting in Philadelphia.
