Northern Trust Global Investments of Chicago has hired George P. Maris as a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager of its institutional large-cap core strategy.
He manages the Northern Growth Equity and Northern Institutional Diversified Growth mutual funds, and is a member of Northern Trust's fundamental active growth equity team.
He was a senior portfolio manager at Columbia Management Group in Boston, where he co-managed both large-cap and midcap equity strategies.
Previously, he was a portfolio manager in the U.S. value equity group at Putnam Investments in Boston and an analyst with Lincoln Capital Management in Chicago.
Northern Trust Global Investments, which announced the hiring last week, is the investment management arm of Northern Trust Corp., which had $778.6 billion of assets under management through March.
