Michael Burson was named the senior vice president of its agency system in Asia; Anne Weedon was promoted to vice president of multichannel distribution for the Asia region; and Karen McIntosh was named vice president of the product center of excellence for the region.

Mr. Burson was the first vice president of New York Life's agencies in the United States before his promotion was announced Friday.

Eric Campbell, the executive vice president and chief distribution officer of New York Life International, said in a press release that Mr. Burson's understanding of New York Life's agency system and his experience recruiting and developing agency talent "will be valuable as we continue to develop the company's agency distribution capability in China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand."

Mr. Burson, who is relocating to Hong Kong and will report to Mr. Campbell, is to be responsible for expanding New York Life's agency network in Asia, with a focus on recruiting and developing executives there. He has worked for New York Life since 1976.

Ms. Weedon was an associate vice president and head of wealth management in New York Life's Asia region before her promotion. Ms. McIntosh was an independent consultant supporting the company's regional products initiative in Asia.

Ms. Weedon is to lead New York Life International's efforts to strengthen multichannel distribution in Asia.

On the product front, Ms. McIntosh is to help New York Life develop global products. The product center of excellence, which she will lead, is an initiative to guide and support product design, development, and management in the company's international markets.

Both Ms. Weedon and Ms. McIntosh will remain based in Hong Kong.

Before joining New York Life, Ms. Weedon was chief operating officer and an assistant vice president at Manulife Asset Management in Hong Kong.

And Ms. McIntosh, before joining New York Life, was vice president of marketing and product management at Sun Life in Hong Kong.
