NFinanSe Cuts Fees for Web Payments

For users of nFinanSe Inc.'s prepaid cards, paying bills online is now no more expensive than sending the payment by mail.

The Tampa prepaid card provider said Wednesday it is lowering its online bill-payment fee from $1 per transaction to 44 cents, the cost of a postage stamp. It is also lowering its automated teller machine withdrawal fee to 99 cents from $1.50.

Jerry R. Welch, nFinanSe's chairman and chief executive, said in a press release that his company's fees had been "too high and too confusing."

To improve clarity, nFinanSe plans to display the lower fees prominently on its packaging "in order to invite comparisons with our competitors," Welch said.
