Pavia & Harcourt Hires Ivan Serchuk to Chair Banking Practice

Three banking attorneys from the New York law firm Spizz Cohen & Serchuk have joined a rival firm.

Pavia & Harcourt announced Monday that Ivan Serchuk, Robert D. Tolz and Brandon Sherman have joined the firm and that Serchuk would chair its financial institutions practice. Serchuk had held a similar post at his prior firm, which is dissolving. He specializes in banking regulatory matters — he was a deputy superintendent and counsel with the New York State Banking Department in the late 1960s and early 1970s — and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial lending. He has also served on the boards of several banks.

Tolz will serve as of counsel in the firm's corporate, banking and taxation practices and Sherman will be working primarily in the litigation department while assisting in the corporate and banking practices.

"We are extremely pleased that Ivan Serchuk and his colleagues Robert Tolz and Brandon Sherman are joining the firm," said George Pavia, senior co-managing partner at Pavia & Harcourt. "Ivan's experience…will further enhance our existing banking and corporate practices."

Pavia & Harcourt is an international firm that is well known for representing Italian and other European companies in the United States.
