Piper Jaffray Cos. hired John Gibas as institutional marketing director to strengthen its investment management business and build on the Minneapolis investment bank's September acquisition of Fiduciary Asset Management LLC of St. Louis.

Mr. Gibas, who had worked had worked for FAF Advisors and First American Funds, will help develop relationships with institutional clients for Fiduciary Asset Management, including corporations, public funds, endowments, foundations, and financial institutions.
Fiduciary Asset Management, which manages $9 billion of assets, offers traditional and alternative strategies for institutional and wealthy investors. Piper Jaffray announced the hiring Thursday.
