Promotions, Hiring at MassMutual

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield promoted two executives in its retirement services unit and hired a vice president of diversity and inclusion.

Tom Cremona is now division sales manager for the Northeast region with the retirement services unit; his predecessor, Hugh O'Toole, is senior vice president and head of the national sales and distribution organization. Mr. Cremona has worked for MassMutual since 1994. Most recently, he was the second vice president of investment consulting and product management.

Lorie Valle-Yanez is the vice president of diversity and inclusion, a newly created position. She will head development and implementation of the company's diversity strategy.

Ms. Valle-Yanez worked for six years on diversity issues at the ESPN unit of Walt Disney Co. Previously she worked for 20 years at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif.

MassMutual, which announced the hiring and promotions Tuesday, managed more than $500 billion of assets as of Dec. 31.
