Regions Names Former Citi, Ag Industry Execs to Board

Regions Financial in Birmingham, Ala., has appointed a former Citigroup executive and an agricultural industry executive to its board.

The $125 billion-asset company named Samuel Di Piazza and James Prokopanko to the board effective immediately. Regions expanded its board 13 members to make room for Di Piazza and Prokopanko.

Di Piazza joined Citigroup in 2011 as vice chairman of its global corporate and investment bank, a role he served in until 2014. Previously, he was global chief executive of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Prokopanko is the former CEO of Mosaic Co. in Plymouth, Minn., a producer of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients. He also previously worked for Cargill.

Di Piazza and Prokopanko "bring a wealth of expertise in financial management, business operations, risk management and strategic planning," Grayson Hall, Regions' chairman and CEO, said in a news release.
