The convenience store chain Sheetz Inc. has begun offering a decoupled debit rewards card from Tempo Payments Inc. of San Mateo, Calif.
The card is issued by Fishback Financial Corp.'s First Bank and Trust of Brookings, S.D., and is accepted at locations that take Discover Financial Services cards.
Sheetz offers discounts on gas purchases at its locations. The card also provides cash-back rewards when used at Sheetz and other retailers. It can be linked to consumers' existing checking accounts. "Debit cards increasingly are the preferred payment choice of customers and we know they value rewards for purchases, so we're very pleased to offer this innovative debit card," Louie Sheetz, the retailer's executive vice president of marketing, said in a press release Wednesday.
Consumers can apply for the debit cards online.
