JPMorgan Chase & Co. selected William Rifkin, who led the global mergers and acquisitions group at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc., to be vice chairman of mergers and acquisitions. Rifkin will start his new job in September. He will be based in New York and report to Jimmy Elliott, JPMorgan Chase's merger chief, the company said Thursday.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
