Sun Life Financial Inc.'s U.S. division has promoted Michael E. Shunney to president of Sun Life Financial Distributors Inc., its wholesale annuity distribution arm.
Mr. Shunney, 50, oversees annuity wholesaler productivity and lead development in the Sun Life distribution operation based in Boston, the company said on Tuesday. He succeeded Kevin Hart, who left the company March 31.
He will remain a senior vice president and general manager in Sun Life Financial Distribution Group.
In February he was chosen to lead the company's distribution group, a newly formed sales organization comprising Sun Life's employee benefits group distribution organization and Sun Life Financial Distributors.
Before that, Mr. Shunney ran Sun Life's employee benefits group as a senior vice president and general manager of group insurance.
Sun Life Financial is based in Toronto and had $426.8 billion of assets under management at Dec. 31.
