SVB Taps Wealth Management Expertise

Silicon Valley Bank said Tuesday that it has teamed up with GW & Wade LLC to offer wealth and tax planning services.

The bank, a unit of the $10 billion-asset SVB Financial Group of Santa Clara, Calif., caters to companies in four niche industries — technology, life science, venture capital and premium wine — and to their executives. It is one of many community banks that are partnering with third-party providers to offer wealth management services to high-net-worth individuals without the cost of launching their own platforms.

"Our private clients require sophisticated financial managers who understand the unique and comprehensive advisory needs of the executives and venture capitalists who lead and invest in technology companies," Silvia Fernandez, Silicon Valley Bank's head of private client services, said in a press release.

GW & Wade's main offices are in Wellesley, Mass., and Palo Alto, Calif. The investment advisory firm, which is owned by Focus Financial Partners in New York, targets a similar clientele as SVB. It offers tax planning, investment management, retirement and estate planning to the executive management teams of public and private companies, particularly in technology, private equity and venture capital.
