Symetra Financial Corp. has announced the hiring of Brenda Gempler to be the managing director of key accounts in the Bellevue, Wash., company's financial institutions division.
She is to be responsible for managing the company's financial institution relationships nationally, the insurer said Thursday.
Ms. Gempler has more than 20 years' experience in financial institutions. Most recently, she was a managing director of the bank channel at Transamerica Capital, where she sold more than $1.3 billion of fixed annuities through banks, wire houses, and financial planners.
She has also been a relationship manager and wholesaler working with key accounts such as U.S. Bancorp and the former Bank One Corp.
Ms. Gempler is to be based in her hometown, Minneapolis.
Symetra sells retirement plans, employee benefits, life insurance, and annuities through a national network of independent advisers and agents. Its insurance company subsidiaries had nearly $20 billion of assets at March 31.
