Tech Bytes: CyberSource to Use RSA Coding Technology

RSA Data Security Inc. said CyberSource Corp. has chosen RSA encryption technology as the security backbone of its CommerceEZ and CommerceFlex services.

CyberSource's customizable turnkey systems support back-office electronic commerce services including credit card processing, screening against fraud, order fulfillment, and electronic data interchange.

CyberSource has agreements to serve as an Internet superstore for 100 software publishers and merchants including Apple Computer, Qualcomm, and Symantec.

"Without adequate security there are significant challenges and risks to doing business on the Internet, especially when a company's goal is to electronically fulfill orders," said Jim Bidzos, president of RSA, a subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies Inc.

CyberSource's choice of RSA will "make electronic commerce safer and easier to implement."

"RSA has allowed us to focus our technical energies on our core product, not on creating security technology," said John Pettit, chief technical officer of San Jose, Calif.-based CyberSource. "Plus our customers, many of which are leading software publishers, trust the RSA brand."
