Tech Bytes: Data Warehouse Firm Hires Former HP Exec

Acta Technology, a data warehousing vendor, has named Carol G. Mills Baldwin, a former Hewlett-Packard Co. executive, as president and chief executive officer.

Founded in 1996, Acta Technology provides data warehouse software and services for enterprises.

"Acta's founders, Sachin Chawla and Alex Gorelik, have built an exciting company that is delivering high-value data warehousing solutions," said Ms. Mills Baldwin.

She was with Hewlett-Packard for 17 years and most recently served as general manager of the enterprise systems division of HP in Cupertino, Calif. Under her guidance since 1993, the division grew from $1 billion to $3.5 billion in revenues a year.

Before joining HP, Ms. Mills Baldwin was a software engineer for BankBoston and Cullinet Corp., now Computer Associates.
