DALLAS - The Mortgage Bankers Association has named Laurel Geise as chairman of the MBA's electronic data interchange tax service work group.

Ms. Geise, a vice president of corporate integration for First American Real Estate Information Services Inc., has more than a decade of experience with mortgage banking systems.

In her new position at the MBA, she will be responsible for steering the group's contribution to the American National Standards Institute's X.12 formats. These formats standardize the process of electronically exchanging tax service information.

Such standardization is expected to streamline lenders' operations by reducing processing time.
