More Anti-Fraud Software from Fair Isaac
Fair Isaac Corp. has introduced software meant to spot fraudulent Internet transactions and criminals tapping into online customers' network connections.
Its Falcon One for Online Access software examines users' online banking behavior and the hardware settings of the networks through which they reach Web sites. If the software decides that a particular transaction may be fraudulent, the bank can choose among several ways to intervene.
The Minneapolis company unveiled the software Wednesday. Other products in its Falcon One fraud-detection suite monitor credit and debit card transactions and protect against identity fraud.
Fiserv Check Capture for Northern Trust
Fiserv Inc. of Brookfield, Wis., has started processing check images for merchant customers of Northern Trust Corp. of Chicago.
They are using software from Fiserv's Imagesoft unit that measures image quality and usability and reads dollar amounts. The merchants send the image files to Northern Trust, which forwards them to Fiserv for processing.
"We capture the check, and Fiserv can help us determine the most efficient way to clear it," said Donald E. Berk, a senior vice president in Northern Trust's treasury management product management. The service has gone through pilot testing and is now in full commercial use, he said.
The banking company outsourced its check processing to Fiserv in 1998. In 2001 the two companies formed a joint venture to provide lockbox processing to corporate clients.
"We work with Fiserv on a lot of our payment initiatives," Mr. Berk said. "We view this as an extension of the technology."
