Tier Technologies Inc. said it has chosen an interim chief executive to succeed Ronald L. Rosetti, who was scheduled to leave next year.
Charles W. Berger, a Tier director, began as CEO June 23. The board was already looking to replace Rosetti, whose contract ends in April 2011. The Reston, Va., bill-payment company said Berger, who has been on its board since January 2002, is not a candidate for permanent CEO.
Berger was CEO of the kiosk maker DVDPlay Inc. from April 2006 to February 2009, when the automated teller machine and kiosk maker NCR Corp. bought that company. Berger was also DVDPlay's chairman from December 2001 through December 2009.
