Mr. Healey, whose hiring was announced Monday, will start his new job Sept. 1. He was the president and CEO of the American Machine Tool Distributors Association in Washington.

He will succeed David F. Woods, who will step down as the Falls Church, Va., trade group's CEO on Aug. 31 but will remain the president of its life and health insurance foundation for education.

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors was the National Association of Life Underwriters until it changed its name in 1999.
