Union Planters chooses Kirchman.

The $6.4 billion-asset Union Planters Corp. of Memphis has selected Kirchman Corp.'s core banking system. The bank holding company is trying to standardize operations for its lead bank -- the $3.3 billion-asset Union Planters National Bank -- plus 98 branches and 31 affiliate banks across a four-state area. the company has used Kirchman software in its individual affiliates previously. Six banks are already on-line, and six more will be operational by yearend.

The Dimension 3000 system being installed offers a centralized customer data base in which information needs to be entered only once. It provides a full set of modules from loan and transaction processing to an executive information system. It runs on an IBM mainframe or an IBM AS/400 midrange system.
