United Community Adds Ex-BB&T Risk Adviser to Its Board

United Community Banks in Blairsville, Ga., has added a former BB&T executive to its board.

The $9.4 billion-asset company said in a press release Thursday that Kenneth Daniels had become a director.

Daniels, who retired as a senior risk adviser at BB&T in 2014, has also served as chief credit risk and policy officer. He joined BB&T since 1983, when the company was still a relatively small bank based in rural eastern North Carolina.

Lynn Harton, United Community's president and chief operating officer, also joined BB&T in 1983. He left the company in 2003 to become chief credit officer at Union Planters.

Daniels "has 38 years of leadership in commercial banking and risk management," Jimmy Tallent, United's chairman and chief executive, said in the release. "He is greatly respected as a banking leader and risk professional with extensive experience in portfolio management, regulatory requirements, policy development and data integrity."
