SAN FRANCISCO -- Visa said it is sponsoring the U.S.- Germany decathlon competition for the second year in a row.
The event will be held this weekend at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.
Visa became the sole sponsor of the U.S. decathlon team in 1990 and has renewed its commitment through t996. The team is formally known as the USA/Visa Decathlon Team.
"Part of our commitment to helping restore the U.S. as a world decathlon power requires that we recognize the financial needs of those who compete in the sport." said John Bennett. senior vice president of Visa. "Our commitment also extends to sponsoring events such as the U.S.-Germany meet to improve the competitive skills of our team.
Visa, a worldwide Olympic sponsor since 1986, also sponsors the United States' ski, gymnastics, figure skating, and basketball teams.
