Visa education program wins public relations award.

Visa U.S.A and its members won a public relations award for the Choices and Decisions: Taking Charge of Your Life program, a financial educational tool aimed at high school students.

The Silver Anvil awards, sponsored by New York-based Public Relations Society of America, an organization of 15,000 public relations professionals, are presented annually to businesses, associations, not-for-profit organizations, and government groups. The awards recognize creative achievement and a program's success in the fulfilling of its goals.

Choices & Decisions, which was developed with input from the U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs and the National Consumers League, includes a written curriculum on a variety of financial subjects and computer software.

The program, which was first launched in the fall of 1991, is currently in use in half, or 10,000, of the country's public high schools.

Visa and its members invested $2 million in developing Choices & Decisions, and more than 625 members have donated the program to schools.
