Wachovia Picks Retirement Group Head

Wachovia Corp. promoted John Papadopulos to president of its retirement and investment product group.

He succeeded Robert Reid, who was put in charge of the real estate division in the Charlotte company's corporate and investment bank.The promotion was announced Friday. Mr. Papadopulos, 49, will report to David Carroll, head of the capital management group, and will sit on the division's operating committee.

For the past 12 years Mr. Papadopulos has worked for Wachovia's corporate and investment bank, most recently as managing director within its financial institutions group. Before joining Wachovia, he had been a managing director at Bankers Trust Co. in New York and at Continental Illinois Bank in Chicago.

The retirement and investment product group creates and distributes products and services for retail and institutional clients.
