Wachovia Corp. said it had hired John M. Dowd to be the wealth management director for its wealth management division's northeast region.
The Charlotte company also said Wednesday that it had hired Thomas F. Scaturro for the division's newly created post of national sales director. Both executives will serve clients with $10 million of net worth or more than $5 million of investable assets. They will start at Wachovia Monday.
Mr. Dowd was the head of the tri-state region for Bank of New York Mellon Corp.'s wealth management unit, with responsibility for management portfolio teams, sales, and banking. Previously, he was the head of Bank of New York's private bank and chief trust officer. Mr. Scaturro also comes from BNY Mellon wealth management, where he was a managing director and sales chief for the tri-state region.
Wachovia plans to divide its northeast region in two. Mr. Dowd is to lead New York, Connecticut, and northern New Jersey, and Antoinette "Toni" Cooper will remain head of the other half of the region, including southern New Jersey, Boston, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
