Western Union to Offer Reloadable Card

Western Union Co. is working with the prepaid card distributor InComm Inc. to offer a Western Union reloadable card.

The MoneyWise card will be available initially through the 150,000 locations for retailers that partner with InComm in the U.S.

These include grocery stores, convenience stores and pharmacies.

It can be reloaded through Western Union agent locations, through direct deposit, through a Western Union transfer initiated by someone else, or through an online fund transfer.

The companies have earlier worked together for Western Union's GoCash service, which allows money transfers to be made from the checkout lane at retailer locations. GoCash was launched in 2009.

"Western Union sees its suite of prepaid card services as an opportunity to continue strengthening both its relationship and value proposition with consumers," Stewart A. Stockdale, Western Union's president for the Americas and executive vice president of global cards and global key accounts, said in a press release Wednesday.
