ABnote to Use Meawallet Cloud Software for Mobile Wallet

Payment and identification card company American Banknote (ABnote) and cloud-based payment company MeaWallet are partnering to create an open-loop mobile wallet for ABnote customers.

MeaWallet, based in Norway, will incorporate its cloud-based payment service into ABnote's EMV payments system allowing payment, loyalty, coupon, and other services to be accessed in a mobile wallet, initially supporting MasterCard and Visa products. ABnote's mobile wallet will also use tokenization for security and will work with Near Field Communication-enabled payment terminals.

"ABnote's partnership with MeaWallet means that our customers will have a faster route to mobile payments, using new innovative products such as customer-branded mobile wallets," said John Ekers, global chief information officer for ABnote, in an Aug. 11 news release. "We look forward to enabling many new and interesting mobile payment projects together with our customers around the world."
