Apple Pay Expands with Web, Watch Updates

Apple Pay is coming to the Mobile Web.

The digital wallet, which was developed to be used for in-app purchases on iOS devices and for contactless payments with the iPhone and Apple Watch, will soon be a payment button for shopping shopping on mobile websites, Engadget reports from Apple's keynote presentation at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Apple will handle authentication with its TouchID fingerprint authentication system or through a connection to the Apple Watch, which will also begin supporting Apple Pay for in-app payments in smartwatch apps, Engadget reports.

Google is similarly pushing the boundaries of what it does with Android Pay. At Google's developer event in May, Google I/O, the company said Android Pay would be a core part of Android Instant Apps, a system that lets users load lightweight versions of apps on demand for purposes such as paying a parking meter.
