ATMs and Merchants in Nepal Begin Accepting JCB Cards

Merchants and ATMs in Nepal last month gradually began accepting credit and debit cards issued by JCB International Co. Ltd. through partnerships with Himalayan Bank Ltd. and Alpine Card Service P. Ltd., Japan’s only global payment brand announced.

JCB said July 31 that it anticipates acceptance of its cards in Nepal to reach to reach 2,500 merchants and 1,000 ATMs by August. JCB plans to work with merchants in Nepal to provide cardmembers with discounts and other special offers, the issuer noted in a press release.

Each year, more than 20,000 Japanese visit Nepal. Besides meeting the increasing needs of cardmembers from Asia, JCB and parent JCB Co. Ltd. said they are positioning the South Asia region as a strategically important market for JCB to expand.
