B of A Cuts Steps for Visa Checkout Enrollment

Bank of America now enables customers to directly enroll credit and debit cards in Visa Checkout within the bank’s online portal, simplifying the signup process for Visa’s streamlined e-commerce checkout service, the bank said March 30.

Through B of A’s new integration, credit and debit cards are “pre-selected” for enrollment in Visa Checkout within the online banking site, so customers only click to add them. Previously, customers were directed to Visa’s website to enroll in the service.

Once enrolled in Visa Checkout, customers shopping at participating websites and apps can click the Visa Checkout button and their account details and shipping information will automatically populate within the merchant’s site.

Visa Checkout, introduced in 2014, enables merchants to embed its streamlined checkout option within e-commerce web sites and apps. Consumers may enroll multiple credit and debit cards in Visa Checkout, and select their preferred payment card when finalizing payment on participating e-commerce sites.

Visa Checkout competes with streamlined checkout services from PayPal, MasterCard and American Express.
