Bank of America Corp. in mid-July laid off 77 workers at its Hunt Valley, Md.-based card-payment processing unit and plans to move the processing to Dallas, according to a BofA spokesperson. The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank expects to complete the move in November. The Hunt Valley unit will remain open and continue to house other card operations, adds the spokesperson. "It is not uncommon for the bank to shift operations to other locations where greater efficiencies and cost savings can be achieved," the spokesperson tells CardLine.
