Boston-based Buildium, which provides a software platform for real estate property managers, has expanded its ePay online payment service to Canada, marking the first region outside the U.S. where Buildium supports electronic payments.
Buildium property owners and landlords in Canada as well as the U.S. may now pay bills through ePay and also collect rent and association and application fees from tenants through Buildium’s portal, cutting processing time by about 70%, Buildium said in a Jan. 24 press release.
The new service, created in partnership with Forte Payment Systems, eliminates several steps. Previously Canada’s Buildium customers were required to collect tenant payments via a pre-authorized payment request to a bank, which in turn sent a payment confirmation to property managers who manually entered the details into Buildium’s platform, according to a company spokesperson. The new process is available only for domestic payments, she added.
Buildium, which serves more than 12,500 customers in 46 countries, launched its ePay service in the U.S. in 2008 and added credit and debit card payment options in 2012.
