SunTrust Banks Inc. and ATM independent sales organization Cardtronics Inc. announced Tuesday an ATM-branding agreement in which Cardtronics will deploy ATMs in stores throughout Florida and South Carolina. Houston-based Cardtronics will deploy an undisclosed number of ATMs in CVS/pharmacy stores in the Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., metropolitan areas and in the Jacksonville and Miami, Fla., metropolitan areas. Cardtronics will brand the ATM housing, screens and receipts with SunTrust's logo. SunTrust customers will be able to use the ATMs without paying a surcharge. Neither SunTrust nor Cardtronics disclosed how many ATMs are involved. As of December 2007, SunTrust operated 2,507 ATMs, according to PaymentsSource.com. Cardtronics is scheduled to complete deployment of the ATMs in the first quarter of 2009.
