Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union is reissuing 56,000 debit cards over the next several days because they were exposed to fraud stemming from the Heartland Payment Systems Inc. breach last year (CardLine, 1/20). Affected customers should expect the cards within days of receiving the notification letters sent this week, A Suncoast spokesperson tells CardLine. The fraud affected less than 1,000 customers, she adds. The Tampa, Fla.-based credit union, which has more than 450,000 members, did not release an estimate of the dollar amount of fraud. In the Heartland breach, hackers captured the credit and debit card numbers and expiration dates of an undisclosed number of cards. The Princeton, N.J.-based processor has not said how many transactions were affected.
