The Dominican Republic-based processor is VeriFone’s first client in the Caribbean region. CardNet will use VeriShield to encrypt card data.

San Jose, Calif.-based VeriFone has partnered with RSA, the security division of EMC Corp., to provide the tool. VeriFone and RSA announced their cooperative security effort in October (see story).

CardNet would not comment on the number of terminals involved, the value of the deal or how many merchants potentially could use the service because it considers those details confidential, a VeriFone spokesperson tells PaymentsSource.
