I was just wondering, will merchants that enter the world of mobile point-of-sale devices bypass Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard guidelines for the devices collecting credit card information?
It would be understood that a payment station such as a cashiering station would have to be off the grid so it could not access personal e-mail applications or websites to protect the information on the device.
Does this imply that mobile devices that are also used as POS devices would only be used to process payments and, as such, would not support Internet or Web browser access? How do you think this industry will move in this space?
