FleetCor buys Travelliance to boost non-fuel card business

Fleet and fuel card company FleetCor is adding to its business lines, a strategy that includes an acquisition of Travelliance that will open a lane into airline lodging program management.

The global corporate payments and fleet management provider FleetCor has acquired Bloomington, Minnesota-based Travelliance in an effort to expand its lodging solutions business line into airline lodging program management. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Bloomington, Minn. Travelliance will boost FleetCor's lodging volume by 8 million room nights annually. FleetCor’s existing lodging solutions business provides coverage at over 15,000 hotels across the U.S. and Canada. While there is some overlap in U.S. and Canada, Travelliance extends the FleetCor hotel network to include South America, Europe and Asia including Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, and the UK.

Travelliance’s hotel partners include Accor Hotels, Best Western, InterContinental, Renaissance Hotels, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Radisson, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, DoubleTree, LaQuinta, and others.

In July FleetCor acquired SOLE Financial, a payroll card provider that provides instant wage access to workers. In March it acquired NVoicepay to digitize corporate payment and be able to deliver full AP automation and disbursement capabilities to its clients.

Fortune reports FleetCor has completed 76 acquisitions totaling $8.2 billion since its inception in 2000 through June 2018, with its largest acquisition coming in 2014 with the purchase of fuel card provider Comdata for $3.45 billion.
