Heartland Promotes Tony Capucille to Top Sales Post

Heartland Payment Systems has named Tony Capucille chief sales officer.

Capucille was mostly recently chief of sales operations for the payments processor, and spearheaded the creation of atlas, an iPad CRM tool. Atlas offers on-demand proposal generation, automated underwriting and security through the encryption of personal information at the point of collection.

"Over the past few years, the productivity of our relationship managers has tripled, and with Tony at the helm, I'm confident our sales organization will reach even greater heights," said Bob Carr, Heartland's chairman and CEO, in a release.

Like most incumbent payment processors, Heartland is under pressure to add technology and services to compete with new electronic payment providers and prep for the U.S. migration to EMV-chip card standards.

Heartland's recent initiatives include a partnership with Ingenico to deliver new EMV-terminals and PIN pads in the U.S. Heartland will integrate its encryption technology into Ingenico's terminals to provide security for magnetic-stripe and EMV transactions.

Heartland is also expanding its merchant services and mobile payment partnership with LevelUp
