Electronics retailer hhgregg Inc. says it will accept gift cards from Circuit City Stores Inc. until Feb. 1 in exchange for up to 20% off on of an hhgregg purchase. Richmond, Va .-based Circuit City filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month, though it received court permission to continue honoring its gift cards. Indianapolis-based Hhgregg began its promotion on Nov. 14, Jeff Pearson, hhgregg marketing vice president, tells CardLine, declining to say how many Circuit City gift cards hhgregg has received. He also would not say what the company would do with the cards other than to say they become hhgregg property once consumers use them at its stores. "This is a marketing promotion to drive possible Circuit City customers to experience the hhgregg store environment," Pearson says.
