Point-of-sale terminal maker Hypercom Corp. has gained two certifications from GIE Cartes Bancaires, the national French payment authority, for its Optimum T4200 and M4200 terminals. Upon gaining the authority's certifications, Hypercom began a campaign to introduce the Optimum T4200 product series to leading French banks and to strengthen its position in that country, according to a spokesperson for the U.S.-based company. The growth of Hypercom in France will not compete in any way with Thales SA business in the region. Hypercom completed the acquisition of Thales' e-Transactions business in April 2008. "The integration of the two companies has gone exceptionally smoothly," says the spokesperson. "Our Optimum products complement our Artema products, the two product lines are complementary for different sectors of the market, and there is very little overlap in the products," says the spokesperson.
