United Bank Card Inc., a Hampton, N.J.-based independent sales organization, says it is among the first in the industry to offer merchants an electronic cash register with an integrated point-of-sale system. Merchants do not pay for the equipment but must get a merchant account with the ISO, a spokesperson tells CardLine sister publication ISO&Agent Weekly. Merchants are not required to sign a contract. Sales agents make money from recurring transaction revenue and from bonuses for signing a certain number of merchants or converting their accounts from competing ISOs. The cash-register package has restaurant and retail-store versions. Both include a customer-facing PIN pad. United Bank Card handles the deployment, setup and support for the systems.
