U.S. District Judge Anne E. Thompson has dismissed a class-action lawsuit filed in New Jersey against Heartland Payment Systems Inc. by some of its shareholders, the transaction processor today announced. The shareholders had filed suit against Heartland following the January disclosure of a breach of the company's processing network (CardLine, 1/20). The court consolidated three shareholder lawsuits in April. In her ruling, Thompson said that because the "plaintiffs failed to allege the existence of a material misstatement or omission," the complaint against Princeton, N.J.-based Heartland did not justify a claim against Heartland.
