Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd. says it has launched a MasterCard-branded credit card that enables consumers to choose the card image and types of rates and rebates they want. The bank says this is the first credit card in Malaysia that enables consumers to choose the card image, but CardLine Global could not confirm that claim. The program, called the You:nique Picture Card, offers consumers the choice of three rate and rebate plans, the bank says in a statement. Consumers can select cash rebates of up to 2% of purchase amounts, an annual interest rate of 9% or double bonus points for every ringgit spent on the card. Bank officials did not respond to a CardLine Global request for comment. The bank, which has some 400,000 credit card customers, this year reportedly plans to focus more on credit cards designed for specific market segments than on those designed for mass appeal.
