Massachusetts Credit Union Installs Voice-Guided ATMs

Greylock Federal Credit Union of Pittsfield, Mass.,  is upgrading its ATM fleet to give the machines both physical access and communication-related elements for the visually impaired and those who have mobility handicaps.

"Voice-guidance software provides a member convenience. It provides greater accessibility and security and we are proud to add this service to our list of benefits," said Marilyn Sperling, president of the $1.2 billion credit union.

The text-to-speech technology will allow Greylock members to plug in their headphones and listen to step-by-step instructions for conducting transactions privately.

The new voice-guidance software will go live when the credit union’s ATM service provider begins support of the new technology later this year.
