MasterCard's Qkr, MasterPass Wallets to Be Used at Barclays Golf Tournament

MasterCard will offer its mobile payment system at the PGA Tour golf event in New Jersey that starts on Aug. 27.

MasterCard's Qkr! with MasterPass app will let fans at the Barclays golf tournament at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J., pay for concession items with a smartphone. Any purchase made using the app and a MasterCard will be discounted by 10%.

The Purchase, N.Y., company said point of sale terminals will be equipped to handle both contactless purchases and Qkr! in-app purchases.

MasterPass is MasterCard's digital wallet platform. The Qkr app debuted in Australia in 2012 and initially let users make mobile purchases by scanning QR codes.

MasterCard said it expects its Qkr! with MasterPass service will be offered at additional PGA Tour events during next year's golf season.
