Moneris Solutions Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Canadian processor Moneris Solutions Corp., is buying Eureka, Calif.-based Humboldt Merchants Services LP, Moneris announced today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition gives Moneris a West Coast presence and access to more than 150 ISOs and agents that work with Humboldt, Greg Cohen, president of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Moneris, tells CardLine sister publication ISO&Agent Weekly. "It gets us into that space, and we're not there today," Cohen says, adding that Humboldt has expertise in some payment technologies that Moneris does not. Cohen says the deal will close by the end of the year. He expects no changes in the number of workers Humboldt employs, with Ken Musante remaining as Humboldt's president.
