Oregon Pacific Bank, a community bank based in Florence, Ore., has joined the MoneyPass surcharge-free ATM network, both companies announced yesterday. Since the beginning of the year about 100 financial institutions have joined MoneyPass, Doug Miraglia, MoneyPass president, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. Oregon Pacific Bank owns 13 ATMs. By joining MoneyPass, Oregon Pacific's customers will gain access to 13,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide. The bank's decision to join MoneyPass appeals to value-minded customers, Jim Clark, Oregon Pacific's president and CEO, said in a statement. Miraglia considers Minneapolis-based MoneyPass an open surcharge-free ATM network because it caters both to credit unions and banks. Co-op Financial Services, which also operates a surcharge-free ATM network, targets only credit unions, Miraglia says. He attributes MoneyPass's growth to the flagging economy. "Consumers seem particularly cost and fee conscious right now," he says.
