The credit union hopes to find an affinity market among NASA staffers who work for a real space agency while also being fans of the long-running Star Trek franchise.

The cards will also make NASA FCU customers eligible for Star Trek merchandise and “experience” rewards, the credit union said in a release.

"We hope fans will take advantage of this exciting new benefit while also remembering that, as NASA Federal members, they can take advantage of a full array of financial services designed to save them time and money," said NASA FCU president and chief executive Douglass Allman in a release.

Four types of Star Trek rewards cards will be made available to rewards card customers in September.

Prepaid card marketer Card.com has also offered a line of Star Trek prepaid cards.
